*The goal was more so 29 tunes in 29 days. Whoops.
Hello again! So, the main goal I decided to take on for this month was to create and upload a tune for every single day until March rolls around. Dare I say I didn't really succeed with that, but I think I did the best I could do without beginning to be significantly burnt out, which explains why I haven't uploaded anything in the past few days. However, this has also given me a sizeable amount of time to reflect on each of my individual tracks and how surprisingly alright some of them really are.
The best thing I decided to do for this post was to give some small commentary on each individual track, since it'll give you some heads up as to which ones I'm particularly proud of, and vice versa.
1 - To start off, I decided to do a weird mishmash of hypertrance and dariacore. Both of those aren't my usual genres, so I'm surprised that this doesn't sound horrible. :P
Still not particularly good in dariacore terms, but it's not too bad either.
2 - Honestly surprised that I managed to pump out something of this quality on the second day. A really brutal tearout tune, especially with the second drop. Highly recommend.
3 - It's only natural to have a worse view on this track due to the quality of the second one, but I honestly felt like I threw on this one. Trance isn't a particularly strong genre for me, despite my interest in it, so I really don't feel like this one compares to most of my other tracks in terms of quality.
4 - Ditto of track 2. Another really hard tearout tune, and another hard second drop. Again, highly recommend.
5 - Surprisingly took me 5 days in to do a DnB tune, which is one of my favourite genres ever. Disgustingly loud, but also hits a soft spot for me. I'd recommend this one.
6 - I initially viewed this as a slop tune, just something crammed together in 2 hours or so but it's honestly good for a tune made in that time. Quite unique!
7 - This is my first time attempting house in a while. It was alright to me at first, but I think this tune has grown off on me. Kinda filler.
8 - Third DnB tune for this challenge! Kinda ditto of track 5, repeat listens have been pretty favourable for me. :-)
9 - Decided to do a more Skrillex inspired OG dubstep / future garage tune. It's okay, but nothing really more than that. Again, somewhat filler.
10 - Honestly, one of my favourites from this challenge. I'd say the mixdown is really clean, at least by my standards and that specifically fits really snugly with what the track's going for (DnB with a heavy emphasis on lighter granular elements). The second drop is really nice, trust me. :^)
11 - This tune tries to be a ditto of track 10, but I prefer that one over this. Same notes, relatively clean mixdown, even a somewhat similar bassline, but this doesn't hit to me the same way track 10 does.
12 - A much dirtier DnB tune than tracks 10 and 11, but otherwise I'd say ditto again. It's pretty nice, but I imagine it'd get a bit stale after a few repeats.
13 - Hands down one of my best for this challenge. A DnB tune which is proudly dirty despite it's deceiving introduction, alongside some wonderful FFT effects to play in to that when the drop arrives.
14 - A pretty alright roller tune with an intermittently dirty and clean bassline, complimented by ethereal pads and tight drums. Would recommend if you're looking for a hybrid between my dirty and clean tunes.
15 - Honestly my best tune out of this entire challenge. Imagine track 13 on performance enhancing drugs, and you'll roughly get an idea on how this one sounds. :^)
16 - I'm not really proud of this one. Sounds more like a knockoff of C&K than anything.
17 - Probably my most minimal DnB tune out of this set. Yet again really clean and really neat, would take this any day over the track before.
18 - Honestly? A really fitting ending - this tune has some roots to my ambient electronic-oriented 2022 stuff, except it's actually good. Very uplifting granular stuff :-)
If you've fully read this, thank you! Haven't really got anything more to add, so I'll end it here. Toodles, for now.
